My Students

I always have the most amazing students in my English Language Arts class, however, this year, they are really exceptional! This year, I have a group of young readers who are excited to get lost in their books! Since September, each student has completed at least one young adult book, with many of them finishing multiple books. These 8th graders are eager to come to my class, get comfy, and enjoy their independent reading books!

My student's love of reading is obvious when you walk into our room!

The 8th graders are strewn about the room, heads in their books, facial expressions reacting to their character's actions. There is a sense of pride when they finish a book, proudly sharing the events in the plot with friends, and ready to dive into their next choice!

My Project

Our Reading Workshop model of English class allows me and my students choice and time to read amazing young adult books! At different moments throughout the day, you can find us strewn about the classroom, noses in our books, or gathered close together, sharing the adventures of our characters.

In order to keep our classroom library current, we would love to have some of the newest titles on our bookshelves!

My students have requested books written by popular authors like Jason Reynolds, Ellen Hopkins, and Wendell Van Draanen. Having access to these high-interest books will help my students achieve the goal of being life-long readers!
