This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a pre-kindergarten teacher in a high-poverty elementary school. The program I teach for has been established to help children in need acquire the necessary early learning experiences to ensure future academic success.
There are 15 amazing children in my classroom who love books! Unfortunately, many of the books in my classroom library are paperback and have taken a beating over the years. We desperately need some hardback books to supplement the library!
Early exposure to meaningful literature forms the foundation for reading success, and these books can provide that for some very deserving students! In addition to literary skills, this set of books will provide an opportunity for my students to learn about a wide variety of topics including the alphabet, colors, animals, the ocean, emotions, and behavior--just to name a few! These hardback books are sturdy enough to stand up to frequent use by preschoolers while providing them with the opportunity to explore literature.
