Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students in my classroom come from very diverse homes. My classroom of high poverty students is eager learners who have great potential! My babies amaze me daily with the stories they share and the smiles on their faces when they master a new concept. I believe that student learning is best done in small groups that allow students to talk and interact with one another. My classroom in full of different personalities as they continue to learn who they are and what they value. I love the daily interactions and seeing my students grow.
My Project
My students are in need of books for our classroom library. Students read at their level at a minimum of 30 minutes per day. I allow students to bring home these books so they are able to read at home. Students are developing a love for reading and need a variety of text to help expose them to new vocabulary, new ideas, and various themes that these rich and engaging texts will teach them.
Being new to 5th grade, our classroom is lacking the higher level books that these students are in need of.
Students have shown interest in these texts and are well deserving of them.
