Books are Dreams and Knowledge Students Hold in Their Hands

Help me give my students the ability to read different genres of the novels in English. Being funded would give my students class sets of each novel. The students would be able to read as a class.

My Students

I teach in a small town in rural Iowa. It is a town of about 700 people and the school is Pre-K through 12. As a teacher, there are so many things I love about my students. First, is the love and respect that they show me in the classroom. They ask me, "How are you doing? How was your weekend? Do you need help with anything?" I love this because these are all questions I ask them. They care about me because I care about them and how they are doing. Second, is their ability to give 110% when asked. Third, is their strong relationship with me, where they feel comfortable with asking me for help on assignments in class. My students challenge themselves each day and I encourage them to strive for more and make short term and long term goals for themselves. They are excited and can't wait for me to announce a new novel to read in class.

My Project

The donations will help expand the minds of my students through various genres in literature. The books already have a special spot in our classroom, once they are purchased. The donation would not only help my students with their fluency and accuracy when reading, but also with their comprehension. We will be able to take each novel and work on vocabulary, compare and contrast, projects using Venn diagrams and character webs. The students will also be able to complete summaries for the chapters they read to check for understanding. The different novels will be able to expand their vocabulary and knowledge on various genres. Please help my class by donating to our cause and providing books for my deserving students.
