My Students
All children should have the same opportunities as their peers. Students at risk often don't receive them, especially those who face learning disabilities. These students are fully capable of learning and understanding grade-level concepts; however, they just learn differently.
My students all come from a diverse town in northern Virginia.
Many of my students come from single family homes and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Currently, I teach students in a resource room as a fifth grade teacher.
My Project
My students are eligible under special education and they are at an age which they are coming into their own skin. Wobble stools are designed to keep learners engaged and are beneficial to have in both the general education and special education setting.
I am excited to offer book clubs for every student which will help them understand special education learners, build tolerance and support inclusion. Our classroom is currently lacking enough wobble chairs to offer students enough flexible seating options.
We would appreciate your support in building our students understanding of tolerance and empathy as well as their self confidence.
These materials will help my students become better advocates for themselves.
