Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am honored to teach a wonderful population of students. A majority of the students are English Language Learners (ELL), and my school serves as a host school for refugees coming from various places.
I look forward to every day with my students, embracing the wonderful differences and experiences they each bring.
I want my students to know they are valued, loved, and safe when they come into the classroom. I strive to model and teach growth mindset so each kiddo knows that their potential is limitless.
My Project
My classroom is home to children of all backgrounds. Every child in my classroom has a unique story to tell, and different experiences to learn from. I strive to teach my students that their experiences have value, and their stories are important.
Seeing themselves represented in our classroom library is important to their growth.
They are able to connect to the stories told in these books, and relate to the characters. In turn, they are able to develop a love for reading.
The flesh colored crayons and paper will help bring their stories to life! They can work on various book projects with the supplies in this project, as well as see themselves in the different skin toned crayons that will be available in my classroom. I hope to use these supplies to celebrate my students and their wonderfully diverse backgrounds.
