Books: An Endless Journey to an Imaginary World, Part Two

My students need 28 interesting Spanish and English books to add to our library including book titles such as "Stanley in Space" and "The Japanese Ninja Surprise".

I teach 2nd grade at a wonderful Title One Elementary School in Northern California. The school population is mostly lower-middle class families. Approximately fifty percent of our students are English language learners, with academic abilities ranging from Gate to special needs.

This is my second year teaching second grade, and I desperately need to create a library that the children will love to visit. I would like to create an authors corner with a collection of authors that the children will love; encouraging them to read, read, and read some more.

I have requested books from the Flat Stanley series; the children just love these books. When my students last year listened to the librarian read books from this series, they were all sitting and listening to every word that was read. You could see them as they focused on the words and stories. I have also requested English & Spanish versions of Dr.Seuss books, which are get books for the beginning reader. These books help the children learn to read with the repetition of words and all the rhyming words used.

Please help my children learn to love to read with this amazing collection of books. As children read, the world is open to them and their imagination sores. My classroom and library will be a better place for my students if they have books that they want to read. Thank you for taking the time to read my proposal.
