This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever read an article that was over your head, one where you could barely pronounce the words yet alone understand its intent? My students need the opportunity to access and read books that are on their level. It is essential for their reading skills to enhance and grow.
Our students are mainly from low poverty homes.
The school environment is sometimes the only place where a student maybe exposed to academics. The students are excited about learning and enjoy being in a positive environment. Our school is a wonderful place to work and attend. The teachers and staff are caring and compassionate. We do everything to help the students excel. Unfortunately, the school does not have any instructional money.
My Project
The resources requested will enhance the students' learning in a number of ways. First of all, motivation and interest are such key concepts in learning. The students need a desire to learn and to try; by giving the students a variety of books to choose from they are guiding their own learning. Their comprehension skills will increase as well as their phonics and vocabulary. The books are actually on their reading level. This will help ease their frustrations in reading and get them excited.
I have realized by a past project that was completed how grateful the students are towards the donators.
My children referred to them and the gifts they gave us often with smiles on their faces. It's so nice to see that the children know someone is invested in their education and are so thankful. They are so appreciative.
