This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very adventurous and are always ready to learn something new. For them, it's nothing like a good book that's telling an amazing story. They are truly some avid readers. Whenever it's time for a new story they are all on the edge of their seats just waiting with anticipation. I want to be able to give my students some amazing books on diversity and being in love with the skin you're in, no matter the color.
My Project
These books will educate and teach my children about loving themselves. Showing them that no matter what color your skin is you can be anything you want to be. My children love to read, so showing them books where the kids are doing amazing things and they all share the same skin color, is definitely a win-win for me. At a young age, society teaches young children to recognize all types of differences between one another. When it comes to teaching children about diversity and acceptance, there are a number of diverse activities for kids that are beneficial in their understanding of cultural awareness and for me, it starts with books.
