I am a elementary school librarian in a moderate poverty area. Many of my Kindergarten students do not have beginning reader books to read at home to help them develop the proper basic reading skills to become a great reader.

Most of our Kindergartners do not have access to books at home that will help them develop strong phonemic awareness or basic reading skills. Many of my kindergartners would be proud to take home a book bag on a daily basis, so that they may read to their family members.

By having Kindergarten book bags to check-out to our kindergartners we will be able to help them succeed in becoming life long readers with a great jump start to the future. Also, by having so many different leveled books our students will be able to show growth in their reading ability.

You will make it possible for my kindergarten students to develop a love for reading. You will also help them to realize their potential as a student.
