I work between 3 Amish school buildings. My students are all English Language Learners. They have limited experiences to give them background knowledge, yet they love to read to pass the time. They always wish we had more books to read because they are with us for K-8, and the book selection I have for each level is limited since I have multiple grades and multiple locations.
I love that my students are always curious.
They want to learn more and are always trying to find out how to.
My Project
The books in this project will help my students develop a greater love for reading and learning. Unfortunately, I work at three buildings and have multiple grades at each location, and that limits the variety of books my students have to read at the appropriate level. They are always finding a topic or character they want to read more about, but our selection is limited.
With these books, my Amish students will have a wider variety of engaging books to select at their independent reading level.
This will help their love of reading and learning continue to grow. I want my students to use their love of reading to help them explore and learn new things.
