Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a migrant school, where parents and students come and go because of parents working in fields to provide for their children. Our students are special and don’t get to experience life as many of us have or do. These students are hardworking students who learn to the best of their abilities until it is time to move on.

We as a staff, parents and students are committed to each student exceeding expectations but need help.

We are committed to providing learning in a creative way, utilizing their brand new outdoor classroom.

My Project

With the help of Walden University, I created a learning garden for our students. This is a space where students and teachers take control of their education and go outside the classroom to learn. In this space, students can complete reading assignments, use the rocks for math manipulatives, and study, explore the world around them and garden.

When students plant herbs, fruits and vegetables, they are able to take food home to share with their families.

We eventually hope to have a timed sprinkler system to keep plants hydrated, but, for now, students enjoy watering their garden space with watering cans.
