This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever tried to draw a picture with broken crayons, hard colored pencils or thick markers? My students are writing wonderful stories. After writing, they type them, print them and lastly bring their characters to life through illustration.

72% of the students at our school qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Several of my students have families that have limited or no English language skills. Their enthusiasm and inspiration to read and write needs constant support through activities and projects to inspire their love of learning. Often our parents aren't able to provide basic supplies and tools much less specialized items.

My Project

The art quality markers and pencils that I am requesting make illustrating an adventure! Students love to use special materials. Using these materials makes projects seem more distinctive which inspires them to not only do their best work, but to take pride in their ability. Even less capable students feel confident as they make their characters and settings come to life through their illustrations.

The students' stories are printed in hard bound individual books.

Each child receives a copy of their book. This is something they will cherish forever. Having this treasure is a continual reminder of their ability to write and create.
