My Project
We are finally seeing over the mountain! The first thing that we have our eyes on is a book nook. This is a place where we can go to get a book and stay to enjoy them. The book nook has been vacant since the beginning of the pandemic.
We want to take journeys in our book nook with books!
This is a special place where students can relax with a book during independent reading time or centers. They are able to check out books and explore all that the nook has to offer. Second grade has a huge emphasis on reading fluency. There has been a lack of motivation in young readers. This part of my book nook project is to put furniture in our space that will help organize books. The shelves provide great spaces for organizing books and keeping them safe. The bins will house smaller books and reading tools that will help students. There will be a bin designated for reading buddies for comfort and engagement. There will also be a bin for reading strategy bookmarks, pointing fingers, line keepers, and many resources to help with fluency. This is the beginning of fluent engaged readers.
