Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I teach an amazing group of deaf and hard-of-hearing students. They are learning to read and beginning to find what kinds of books interest them. Many of my students are struggling readers learning to read in their second language.

I want to create a space where my students can comfortably read and fall in love with a good book.

I have graciously received donations supporting new books for our classroom library. However, I realized our classroom needs new book storage and age-appropriate seating for mature students. Cozy chairs, floor pillows, and bookshelves will help give our library a much-needed change.
