I am excited to be a Teacher Librarian at an amazing school. In a world where many libraries are being pushed away, my administrator believes libraries are important. My goal in the library is to create life-long readers and prepare our students for the future. Our kindergarten-fifth grade school is filled with motivated, passionate, and eager students who I hope will love spending time in the library. Our school serves a diverse student population, including some English Language Learners and at-risk students. We strive to give our students every advantage and opportunity we can. A school library is an essential resource for all children and I would love our library to be an exciting place buzzing with excitement about authors and books.
My Project
I am hoping to add some new books to my school library. Each year I hold Scholastic Book Fairs as a fundraiser to purchase new books to add to our collection. My students helped generate a list of books that would love to read once the funds were available and I was able to make purchases.
My goal as a librarian is to choose books that they not only love to read, but will also help them grow as scholars.
Unfortunately, my book fair was set up just a few days before our school district closed schools due to the nation-wide pandemic. I will not be able to purchase the books because my fundraising efforts for the school year will not be able to continue. I am hoping that this project will help put some amazing new books of their choice in their hands this next school year.
