This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a second grade teacher in the city of Chicago. There are many challenges that face my students each day. My students come from diverse backgrounds and are from low income families. The majority of our families fall below the poverty level.

Despite all of this, I am lucky to be working with a group of students who are eager and motivated to learn.

Their eagerness motivates me to find new ways to improve instruction. The pride and excitement on their faces as they are growing as learners is very rewarding.

My Project

Recently, we have started book clubs in my classroom. My students love to discuss the books they are reading, and this has really gotten my students excited about reading.

My students have requested more books from the Dragon Slayers Academy series.

We currently have two books from the series which my students have read. They said they would really love to be able to read the books that began the series. That is why I am asking for the first four books in the series. It is so rewarding as a teacher to see my students excited about reading and enjoying getting to discuss their books with each other.
