Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our older students who struggle with reading have shown such growth in the past year, but they need more book sets at their level so they can participate in Book Clubs. Books are high interest and they love discussing, reading aloud and choosing the next book for their groups. The third to fifth graders have books to read individually but we need sets, such as the book Body Switch, so they can collaborate, share ideas and improve fluency.
The ability to choose interesting chapter books are extremely motivating to our students with learning disabilities.
We want to continue to see our students grow by placing appropriate and engaging books at or just above their ability level.
More than half of students from low‑income households
