Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-year teacher, I thought of my project Book Buddies & Busy Fingers to combine two important areas of early learning: a love for reading and the development of fine motor skills. I want my project to help engage students through hands-on activities connected to familiar and well-loved children's books. Many students I have worked with enjoy Pete the Cat and Barefoot books. Each story will have an art project or an interactive book that will help students reach both fields of reading comprehension and strengthen their muscles.

The goal of this project is to make reading interactive and fun, while also supporting early childhood development in a meaningful way.

As I grow in my first year of teaching, I wanted to create something that not only supports student learning, but also builds routines and excitement around books and hands-on learning.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
