This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Fair isn't everyone getting the same. Fair is everyone getting what they need to be successful. I work to achieve this goal every day by providing engaging, hands-on learning in every subject at each student's ability. My students are the reason I spend countless hours differentiating my lessons to meet each child's individual needs.

My second graders are a group of happy, energetic, and brilliant kiddos.

They are a glorious challenge that I welcome each day! My students walk in each morning eager to read the daily objectives in order to discover what they will learn that day. They attend an inner city school, just a block away from the city's largest housing projects. 95% of our school's kiddos live in low income housing and receive free or reduced price breakfast and lunch. Despite the challenges they may face outside our classroom walls, my students greet me each day with a smile! My students are the reason I teach!

My Project

My young students are just beginning their journey in learning. I strive to create a peaceful, fun, and organized learning environment where each student can relax and feel comfortable. One way I do that is through reading. My students are working on choosing books that fit their reading level and their interest. They do that by exploring lots of different kinds of books.

The more books I can get into my students hands the better!

My students love books, they love them to pieces! Literally! Our books are falling apart and part of the reason is how they are being stored. Right now my kiddos keep their books in bags that rip or broken bins. Our bins right now are broken and thin, and are continually tipping over, which leads to books being damaged.

These book bins would provide my students a safe and organized place to store the books they read! They will provide a home to the library books, guided reading texts, and the books that my students just can't give up!
