My students need quality books to enhance their knowledge and curiosity.

My students are very diverse, from many different countries, cultures and backgrounds. They love to learn and are interested in so many things from space, to bike riding to fairytales. They love to experience things hands-on, but that can be difficult in a school and district with limited resources.
The school is the largest elementary school in the district and although the administration really helps out, it is hard to have enough money to provide all of the resources that the students need.
Many of my students are in Special Education, so they need a variety of differentiated materials to provide the instruction that they need.
These books are aligned with the curriculum and will enhance and expand on the books that are part of the literacy program. The literature books will allow students to learn about characters, theme, point of view, author's purpose, problem and solution and to compare and contrast different cultures and ideas.
The informational books will build on the literacy program as well as science and social studies.
Informational texts are an important component of the curriculum, but the school is lacking in these texts.
Quality books will expose students to quality writing that will help them in their own reading and writing.
