For my kindergarten class I would like to begin a program called "Book Bag Buddies". Each book bundle would include a book along with activities for the parents to do with their child. Many of my students do not have access to books at home and this would be a great way for them to gain a love of reading. This program would also bring parents and children closer together as they share and participate in these activities. I believe that one of our most valuable resources is our parents and this would give the parents a feeling of involvement in their children's education. Our classroom contains 25 kindergarteners. This program would need at least 25 hard back picture books. Hard-backed books cost more but they will last for several years. We would also need 25 small back packs for each of these books.
