Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our board game club will impact a group of ethnically diverse 4th and 5th grade students at a Title 1 school just outside of Houston, Texas. These students were affected by Hurricane Harvey in 2017, some of whom are still recovering from the devastation that our neighborhoods experienced.

These students have a wide array of ability levels and exhibit an interest in problem solving, team building, and communication skills.

Our kiddos are ready to dive into a new adventure of conquering, exploring, and learning!

My Project

This year, myself and two colleagues will be starting a brand new club at our school - a board game club!

Our goal for this new club is to help our fourth and fifth grade students develop critical, strategic thinking and problem solving skills while answering rich academically centered questions.

These skills are essential for student success in school and will help them become successful individuals of the workplace in the future. In addition, these board games will help each of the students tremendously as they will learn how to be independent problem solvers.

We are looking to expand our collection of board games to have the ability to switch out games from week to week and continuously allow for new experiences. Please consider helping us expand our board game collection to support our new club!

I created the project as a part of the "clear the lists" movement.
