Blown Away by Science

Help me give my students a fan and power station for our newest hot air balloon.

My Project

We have just finished sewing a 100 cubic meter, remote controlled hot air balloon! The students have been cutting sewing for about a month. Unfortunately, our current fan setup is not up to the task. We need a new fan and power bank to cold inflate our balloon before our burner can get it airborne.

We have flown our smaller balloon (50 cubic meters) at a football game, for hundreds of elementary students and an inclusive summer camp.

This fan and power bank is the next step for us to bring big science to our next audience. Hot air balloons are magic and a great tool for us to share STEM with our community.

We also make our balloon available as a research platform for our Aerospace club. They are currently doing parachute test drops to ensure their rockets return to earth safely. We can safely and easily repeat trials for collecting quality data.
