My Students

My students are curious first graders who enjoy trying new things and being risk-takers in the classroom. They love a challenge and are not afraid to make mistakes. My classroom is full of students who truly love learning. When given free time they can be found working together to build intricate creations with blocks, reading together, making up stories, or playing academic games. I'm amazed every day by their eagerness to learn and grow both individually and collaboratively.

Our school is comprised of students and families from all walks of life.

We live in a rural community in the largest school district in Idaho, yet you would never know it based on the close relationships built throughout our school. I am new to the school this year and have never felt more at home in my teaching career. The community is extremely family-oriented and supportive of our school.

This is a very special group of students who, although they come from all walks of life, are empathetic and respectful to everyone they meet. I feel very blessed to be their teacher.

My Project

Earlier this year I received a grant for blank writing books so my students could complete their Someday Book project. Every year, my first graders write, edit, publish, and illustrate their own books about their hopes and dreams for the future. This project takes two full months to complete, and is engaging and challenging! My students have currently begun the writing process and are curious as to how they will illustrate their work. That's where the colored pencil sets and individual sharpeners come into play.

Students are adding as much detail to their writing as they can and now they need colored pencils to help make their writing come to life and jump off the pages! At our school, school supplies are optional, which makes providing these kinds of materials for all students very challenging. With your help, our first graders will have access to art supplies that are necessary for the completion of their very own book!
