Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach two 12:1 8th grade classes that are made up of 24 lively characters that I absolutely adore teaching! They are inquisitive and really show an appreciation for science. They are very talented when it comes to hands on activities. They demonstrate their abilities when they are given the opportunity to build their own science projects. Some of my students have speech and motor skill delays. A science project would help them develop necessary skills for academic success and personal growth.

My Project

My students are visual and kinesthetic learners. They learned about the Scientific Method and will use the seed kit to conduct all the steps. This project will help them create a testable question, develop a hypothesis and engineer an experiment with variables. This project is a hands-on learning experiment that allows them to test plant growth by manipulating the conditions of the plant. The students will be given the opportunity to conduct their own research on what promotes plant growth and test different theories to see which works best. Lastly, the students will communicate their results. The experiment will expand their hands-on learning experiences and help them reach their speech and occupational therapy goals.
