Blood Typing, A Vital Discovery!

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn about themselves in the lab; with a blood typing kit, students will be allowed to find out their own blood type when learning about inheritance of genetics!

My Students

In our seventh grade science classroom, we focus on creating a culture of curiosity. I encourage my students to ask meaningful questions, and we work together to answer those life questions! My goal for my classroom is for my students to connect what we learn about the environment, the human body, and even how molecules come together to the world around them. I push my students to learn that science is not a subject to be memorized, but a subject to be explored!

My Project

These materials will give my students a unique opportunity in the laboratory that most students don't have! While learning about heredity and how genetics are passed from parent to offspring, we will discuss blood types and how they are inherited. With parental consent, students that want to will be given time in the lab to safely go through the complete process of blood typing. They will leave our classroom with a new experience under their belts and knowing their blood type!

With these materials, students will be able to apply what they are learning to themselves and their own lives, and these connections are SO important in creating the foundations students need to continue on in high school and college science classes!
