Each day I am greeted by 23 students, who are eager and ready to take on our fun day of learning. My students have been given the opportunity to foster their education in a new and growing school in Brooklyn. The students are motivated and filled with excitement each day, and are ready to learn new strategies to help them achieve success in subjects such as reading, writing, and math. We are constantly encouraging our students to have open-ended discussions with each other and to explain their thinking. They enjoy working together and helping each other understand new concepts and ideas.
We have created a positive learning environment that instills a love of learning and joy in all of our students.
They are wonderful children who deserve to have all the materials and resources they need in order to succeed in all subject areas. Our school motto is "What we learn with joy, we never forget." We strive to find the gifted and talented in all of our students. We do this by teaching through challenging curriculums, project-based learning, and creating engaging and hands-on lessons for all types of learners!
My Project
Our school staff and students are lucky to be a part of our small, but mighty school. Just like many students and educators, we faced the challenges of teaching and learning from home this past school year. Even though 889 is not at full capacity, our spirit and determination to achieve success show in how we came together in order to conclude our academic school year successfully, despite our resource limitations. With the new year beginning, and knowing that students will be taking part in blended learning, my goal this school year is to support my students by teaching them how to use technology tools and resources independently and most importantly effectively.
No matter if my students are in the classroom, or at-home learning, I want each of them to feel confident in themselves and know that they can complete the assigned work.
Having these iPads will allow me to successfully teach my students at the beginning of the school year how to navigate the google classroom platform, submit work to me, stay in contact with their peers, and much more. IPads will continue to be used throughout the year by giving students access to multiple online resources. I know my students will continue to progress and develop this academic school year, no matter their learning environment and with your donation, we will enhance my students' learning abilities and will continue to keep them engaged, confident, and excited for the 2020-2021 year!
