Help me give my students rockets so we can make Quadratics come to life! Each year our Algebra I students shoot rockets to model the curve of a parabola.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My Algebra I students have been learning about Quadratic equations. It is the largest unit of the year, and when students are first exposed to the Algebra involved with Quadratics they can be overwhelmed and frankly...BORED! What better way to remedy this boredom with an all culminating moment of mathematical modeling. That is to say, modeling quadratics using rockets. I need help in have my students take their learning to new heights with Estes Rockets, and B6-4 engines. My hope is that students will have a positive learning experience that they take with them through their remaining years in high school.
