Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work, partner work, and small group work times, they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently, my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as at different tables, sitting under tables with clipboards, or sitting or lying on the floor with a clipboard.

Dry erase pockets and LED writing tablets will allow students the freedom of choice and flexibility to write freely without worrying about a marker being dried out or needing an eraser to write.

I believe that giving students freedom of choice and making sure they are comfortable are essential to motivating them to make better choices and helping them become more engaged and focused. I think it helps when all material is organized in files for easy accessibility.

I believe these materials will help make learning even more fun in the classroom during whole group, small group, centers, and partner work.
