This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How can underprivileged students do well inside the classroom? Students can do well inside the classroom by having the simple necessary tools to complete their daily work activities.

The majority of our students come from low-income families, and their resources are extremely limited.

Therefore, we must provide these special tools to enhance their learning on a daily basis. More than 80% of our students will come to school without fulfilling their whole school supply list. It is important for teachers to make sure that our students have the tools necessary to reach their dreams. Financial needs should not get in the way of academic excellence.

My Project

Sometimes I wonder what a normal school day is like? When will school ever be the same? These are questions that teachers, parents, and students ask themselves. Teachers need to think outside the box! As an 8th grade teacher, I have my work cut out for me. 8th graders are in school to socialize with their friends and get ready for high school. I need to make sure they have the necessary math skills for their secondary education.

As teachers, we need to make sure our students are safe, but at the same time, provide them with a fun learning environment.

Many things have changed inside the classroom. We can't do group activities like in years past. Students must maintain a 3-6ft distance from one another. How can we make sure that they are learning and having fun at the same time? I have created a fun review game for my math classes to get ready for their unit assessments. Instead of working in groups, they have safely spread apart from one another and they have their own individual dry erase boards. I want to create a fun learning environment around them by setting up our room to blacklights. They will also have a glow-in-the-dark EXPO marker as well as a bracelet. They will definitely look forward to our unit assessment reviews, but most importantly, remaining safe and healthy.
