This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Winter is upon us, and it would be nice for my unique little snowflakes (students) to settle in and get some books to help us learn and grow with the help of our rich history.
We utilize our differences to help us all learn and grow daily.
All of my students come from diverse, low socioeconomic backgrounds. We will work on the reading, math, and social studies curriculum together utilizing whole/group instruction, centers, and independent activities to enrich and remediate our knowledge bases daily within the classroom.
My Project
Our project will not only raise awareness but also teach my students about their history (over half of my class is African American) and of individuals that have had a direct impact on our country.
Having a set of books to celebrate Black History Month will be so vital to us researching and completing our Black History Month projects this year.
Students will choose a past, present, or current famous African American to study for our Black History Month projects. Students will have the opportunity to utilize the books to research and create a timeline of their persons' life and their contributions to our country. They will also complete a class presentation and hallway display with their work. These autobiographies and biographies will give my students' insight into the lives of these prestigious individuals.
