My Project

Bites Café is a student-run adaptive program where high school students with disabilities gain hands-on experience in cooking, food preparation, and customer service. Students prepare items such as muffins, energy bites, trail mix, lemonade, coffee, and simple breakfast foods for the school coffee cart. They also participate in Buddy Club activities during the cafe, building friendships, communication skills, and positive peer interactions throughout the school community.

A new stove, refrigerator, and updated cooking utensils like Pots and pans, will make a major difference in what students are able to create safely and independently.

These tools will allow students to cook warm foods like biscuits, baked snacks, and simple meals, while also properly storing ingredients and prepared items. This expansion directly supports our goals of increasing independence, building vocational readiness, and teaching real-life cooking and workplace skills.

What makes our students special is that each one brings a unique perspective, personality, and set of strengths to the classroom. They are courageous, positive, and resilient, showing determination no matter what challenges come their way. Our students are able to adapt when changes happen, remaining flexible and willing to try new things even in uncertain situations. They continue to show up with good attitudes, kindness, and a strong sense of humor that brings joy to those around them. Their ability to “roll with it” and keep going is what makes them truly remarkable and valuable members of our school community.
