My students are an amazing group of diverse learners in Maine. We have students from all economic circumstances, many of whom are English Language Learners. We are in an urban environment located on the coast of Maine.
Students at our school need rich learning opportunities, facilitated by knowing teachers.
Due to the various backgrounds of our student body, we are in need of materials and tools to narrow the experiential gap of our students, especially those tools which strengthen language development. Our school is an important part of our local community and strengthening our community connection is a priority.
My Project
This is a project that supports the Birthday Book Cart, where all students at my school can come pick a book from on their birthday.
This project includes only books that students requested, that they want available on their birthday!
I believe that building a love of literacy is very important and this love of books can carry on with students long past the days of school. I want all students to be excited to pick a book that they really want. That is why I asked students to make me a list of books that they wanted and here it is!
