My Project

The students at my school love to celebrate their learning through different campus festivals. Several classes organize interesting educational activities for all students to enjoy during our Maple, Fungus, and Harvest festivals. As an agricultural school in a city, these festivals enable the students to showcase some of their classroom learning.

This Birding in the City project will provide binoculars and field guides for an engaging activity during a new school festival celebrating Migratory Bird Day.

Students will learn how to use the equipment to identify migrating and local birds during birding hikes on our 42-acre campus. Since our city has many green spaces that migratory birds use for feeding and respite, the skills the students develop can then be used wherever they live. Connecting the students to nature through this birding adventure can also help improve students' mental and physical health.
