Biosphere for Environmental Club/Classes

Help me give my students the opportunity to see a live ecosystem in action by allowing us to get a functioning liner and pump for the pond in our courtyard.

My Project

These materials will help my students have a tangible, real-life example of how elements in an ecosystem are interconnected and influence each other. The pond liner and pump will allow for us to get the pond in the science courtyard functioning again.

A functioning pond will give students the unique opportunity to experience nature at work as we maintain the pond and the courtyard and observe this miniature ecosystem.

I plan to add some amphibians and small fish to observe in the pond as well. These are indicator species that will tell whether or not the pond is healthy or toxic to the environment around it. The pond will be a valuable teaching tool for the Enviornmental Science and the Biology courses I teach.
