My Project

Each year, I create an experience for my students that is designed specifically for them. I follow my standards and invest in books for future years, but create an experience uniquely to them. I also try to accomplish something that pushes me to be better and more creative. Our first reading module of the school year is learning about fall and friendship. We look at change and how it impacts seasons and friendships. One of our stories looks at camouflage.

Creating a room transformation surrounding the biomes of the world is the perfect next challenge.

I have always wanted to have my students create a transformation project, and have been interested in bioluminescence. I am fortunate to work in a school that values creative projects. My partner and I will have the space to create in and out of our rooms. We also have connecting rooms. My vision is to create 2 room transformations while learning about the changes in seasons, animals around the world, and their different biomes. We will create a transformation that will involve the Rainforest and the Arctic. We will do other displays to show the learning of the other biomes. We will add bioluminescent elements. We will invite families, students, and staff into an immersive experience.

The books will assist students in learning about the different biomes, and will provide us with some read alouds regarding the topic. The bricks, paint, beads, pipe cleaners, and neon items will showcase the bioluminescence. Our PTA provided us with black lights. We will create a 3D element with the bricks and will have research projects. We will have a play or reader's theater so we improve our speaking and performing skills.
