Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 180 Biology students are located in South Florida in a Title 1 school. They come from low income families, mostly ELL who have access to breakfast and technology through the school. My students need access to the scientific knowledge and experiences that will enable them to succeed in their current science classes in high school since language barrier is a determining factor for their academic achievement.
Going to universities, and contribute to the scientific discoveries of the future is a dream that seems very far but it could be achieve by closing their learning gap.
To achieve this goal I would like to have a computer that allows me to interact closely with my students and also to provide in the classroom access to Biology Dictionaries that can be use to increase their knowledge of the content.
My Project
My student population is made up of 180 students between 10th and 11th grade from which 45% are English Language Learners. This particular population will benefit from the use of Biology Dictionaries.
The computer requested will be used to differentiate instruction to address the need of direct instruction in the classroom DI center and personalized instruction with the students for which the computer will be used due to the convenience a laptop provides.
It is my believe that every student can and will learn any content as long as he/she has the willing to do so and has the support from the teacher and the resources necessary for that purpose, please help my students to achieve their academical success with this project.
