Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are a 100% Title I funded school. My students are loud, rambunctious, and full of life! They love to learn, play and go! They live in an urban neighborhood with people from all walks of life, so we teach them to be kind to everyone because you never know whose life you are impacting.

My kindergarten newbies are eager and excited to learn to read.

They love school, their teachers, and their families. Our goal is to keep it that way!

My Project

Most of my students have had dogs and cats for pets. At home, they are "too little" to help feed and care for them. I want to teach them responsibility and enhance their observation skills by adding pet butterflies and fish to the classroom.

In our class they will assume the role of a biologist and study life in real-time.

When we go to the aquarium (in late spring), they will be able to ask better questions based on their observations of the pets we have in our classroom. They will also be able to make better connections about animals and their habitats!
