Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our library is a space that all students in our elementary school can explore, stretch their imaginations, and find books to increase their knowledge across a vast variety of genres. My goal this year is to improve our library by creating sections where students can more easily find and browse the books they are most interested in reading. With the funding of this project, I will begin this project in our biography section.

These bins will allow me to categorize and organize our biography section so students can quickly locate great titles and spend valuable minutes reading instead of aimlessly searching for a preferred title.

Once these bins are received and the section is reorganized, the students will be more motivated to explore the biography section, and the student browsing experience will be greatly improved. Often, students struggle with finding books about particular athletes, actors, scientists, and important change makers in the world with our current organizational system. These bins will provide a superb way to organize books by category and reading level and will allow me to create a perfectly organized space to improve and increase reading experiences for all students. This will, in turn, lead to a love of the library and reading.
