My students need bins in their classroom to help them make better choices about the books they are picking to read. Typically our library is divided by reading levels, genre, and interest.

My Students
As a special education teacher in a low income school located in Staten Island, New York I have students in my classroom who face challenges on a daily basis, both in and outside the classroom. I teach students with a range of disabilities, including but not limited to, Autism Spectrum Disorder, emotional disturbance, and learning disabilities. Many of my students are also English language learners. The combination of these challenges causes many of my students to struggle both academically and behaviorally. However, despite these challenges, I try to provide my students with meaningful opportunities.
My Project
Having these book bin is my class will allow my students to independently pick out books on there own. Book bins can be labelled by topic which allows that initial interest in a book. I hope to make my class as print rich as possible and these book bins will help me get one step closer to my ideal library organization.
With your help I can help light a spark and inspire my students to love reading.
My hope as a teacher is to help all of my students to develop that love for reading at a young age. Thank you again for all your endless support!
