Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are so excited to be hosting a Bingo for Book Night for our families but we need help!
We would love for every student to go home with a new book. Our students do not have many new books at home, or the ability to purchase many on their wish list.
Hosting nights for our students and their families to come together, bond, have fun, and leave with books is what our school represents.
Our school has a large population of ESL and low poverty students, and we are eager to teach students that learning can be fun and that it is possible to have books that they want. Our school is 100% free and reduced lunch. The students here are eager to learn and love going to the library. About 80% of the students are several grade levels behind in reading. Having books of their very own to help them grow will mean the world to them.
My Project
During the pandemic, students are reading about 100% online. We want to give students the hands-on reading again.
This donation of new aged books will provide my students with the opportunity to fall in love with reading without worrying about a price tag.
Many students feel as if they don't find reading fun, and we want to change that. We also want parents to not have to say no because a book is too expensive.
