Mrs. Hollis from Moss Point MS is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need binders and dividers in order to organize their materials for class and to keep all necessary assignments together. Learning how to be organized will help them in all of their future endeavors in life!

I teach Special Education. All of my students are below grade level, however, they try so hard to be just like their peers and want to be accepted just as they are. Our school is in a high poverty area where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Resources for our students are very limited. When students do not bring in their school supplies, it is up to the teachers to supply them with what they need.
Being considered a poverty area does not excuse students from working hard and to their fullest potential.
I want the best for them and I know that they want the same.
Most of my students are all using three prong folders to keep up with their notes, daily assignments, homework, etc. When needing to find something for class, they spend more time looking for their notes or assignment from the day before than they spend on the actual assignment. By getting everyone a binder, I will be able to help them organize their work using dividers and teach them the importance of keeping up with things, making sure it is in the right section. The binders will help their study habits, too. I want my students to be successful in the classroom, and I believe teaching them to be organized is the first step.
