My Students

My students are awesome! Their personalities and future goals are all so diverse, so it makes it fun to be their counselor! My students are from Philadelphia, and there are certainly some students that have been raised in not-so-great areas. Many struggle to commute to school, pay for essential supplies, and a good number struggle inside the classroom.

Regardless of their struggles in and outside of the classroom, all of my students have dreams for their lives after high school.

It takes a lot of work to plan for the future, and I enjoy watching them work through it.

My Project

As the only counselor for a school of over 450 students, I am always looking for ways to get information out to my students in an organized and easy way. When it comes to the college application process, there is so much information that the students need.

I am hoping to give each 11th grade student a binder that includes all of the materials and information that is useful when searching for and applying to college.

I hope that this will give them the opportunity to stay organized, have their questions answered easily, and will in turn make the process easier. Midway through their senior year, I'd like for the juniors to return the binders so they can be re-used with the next graduating class.

I have also included some college and scholarship books to add to my counseling office library. The students always use these books, so it's important to keep them updated!
