My students need bilingual books such as Mouse Paint, A sembrar sopa de verduras, and La Oruga Muy Hambrienta, so that we can have bilingual (English and Spanish) read alouds in Pre-K.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine listening to a story as a young child, but it is in a different language! We need bilingual read aloud books to engage all students and families in the wonder of stories.
My 23 students attend a small, urban school in Maryland.
They are between 4 and 5 years of age, but are as enthusiastic and engaged as any kid twice their age! My diverse group of young learners represent several home languages and dialects and even more countries of origin. They love to learn and show their growing brains and knowledge bases everyday!
My Project
My students need bilingual books such as Mouse Paint, A sembrar sopa de verduras, and La Oruga Muy Hambrienta. My students are an enthusiastic, diverse group of young students. They absolutely love learning, and cannot get enough of school. One of their favorite times of the day is story time. We are so fortunate to have a very diverse class, however I know that I can engage all students by incorporating more Spanish language in my every day instruction. Therefore, I have created "Bilingual Read Aloud Fridays", and my students, no matter what language they speak, love it! They love to discuss what it means to be bilingual, and all students are now getting exposed to two languages. However, my library is very limited. We need bilingual books that are developmentally appropriate and thematically aligned, and workbooks that will serve as bilingual homework to help the Spanish-speaking parents participate in their student's learning as well.
My diverse group of young learners looks forward to our new "Bilingual Read Aloud Fridays" every week, but we are very limited in books in English and Spanish.
Help us read and learn two languages! By receiving new books that are in English and Spanish, I can read to all of my students a book that is engaging and fun. Students of all backgrounds get exposure to two languages, and their parents will have more materials in both languages as well. Help us become bilingual!
