Help me give my students a trike, a balance bike, and helmets, for the opportunity to increase large muscle movement and develop a lifelong skill of bike riding
We are an amazing Early Learning Center that provides inclusive preschool experiences for the Central Falls community. Our children are 3-5 years old from diverse backgrounds, mostly Latino based. We are a Bright Stars certified school where children learn and play in a safe, warm and highly supported learning environment with state certified Highly Qualified Teachers.
Central Falls is a very small, 1 square mile, community with very little green space or opportunities for large muscle movement.
At school we aim to provide multiple opportunities for outdoor play and activities that will stimulate movement that leads to greater brain development. Our children show great growth through well-supported activities throughout the day, preparing them for successful kindergarten experiences.
My Project
This project is designed to create opportunities for children to develop physically using large muscles and learning the coordination of bicycle riding. It will additionally provide a platform for children to engage with each other as they attempt new skills and then share them with peers.
Bicycle riding is a lifelong skill that builds developmental skills and provides children with a means to engage in an experience that can be used into the future to maintain a healthy and happy lifestyle.
By providing the opportunity to learn this skill in a safe, nurturing environment, we are assuring children are given opportunities to grow in a way that may not be available to them in their community.
