My Students
Our school is located in a rapidly growing suburb of Tulsa, OK. We have a diverse population of over 1,400 students from Pre-K to 5th grade. In my classroom, students come from many different cultures/countries and varied socioeconomic backgrounds.
Our classroom is filled with students who are bright, curious and eager to learn new things. It is my life's work to teach my students to be independent thinkers and to foster a love of reading and learning. Each day brings it own new challenges and I hope to teach my students to face those challenges head on and with grit and determination.
My Project
It is my sincere desire to light a reading fire in each child that comes through my classroom doors. In order to do that, LOTS of books are needed-for every reading level and interest. These graphic novels, chapter books and beginner chapter books will be a great addition to our classroom library.
With the addition of new books, my students will have more choices at their independent reading level. My students love to peruse the classroom library, discuss books with one another, read books together, and listen to me read to them. Having a lot of choice in the classroom library opens a whole new world for students! The best way to create lifelong readers (learners!) is by having high interest, quality literature for them to choose from. That is my goal for my classroom library-choice, quality and high interest.
