My Project

Every morning, my students walk into the classroom carrying more than just backpacks—they carry their worries, their fears, and the weight of the world on their small shoulders. I want our classroom to be the place where that weight feels a little lighter.

The items I’m requesting will help create a space that feels like home—a space where students feel safe enough to open up, to connect, and to just breathe.

The rug will become our circle space, where we come together not just to learn, but to listen, to share, and to heal. It will be the heart of our classroom, where stories are read, problems are solved, and bonds are built.

Some days, emotions run high. Having tools and books that help my students name and navigate those feelings is essential. When a child can find peace within themselves, they can return to learning with clarity and confidence.

The light filters will soften the harsh lights above us, helping to create a calm, soothing environment that says, “You are safe here. You are cared for.”

Teaching is about so much more than lessons—it's about love. It’s about creating a classroom where every child feels seen, supported, and genuinely happy to walk through the door.
