This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am working as a Kindergarten teacher at a title one school in Richmond City.
There are predominantly low-income households that are struggling to survive and the other are affluent households.
What makes our students so special, is their yearning to succeed, educationally.
It is important that students are experiencing the best type of care and education while at school so that they can be motivated and influenced to better themselves for the future.
I like to teach through hands-on activities that allow interaction throughout the classroom.
My Project
Within my classroom, I have a number of stations to give my students a variety of literacy.
I would like to include another literacy center that has larger books.
Students always have so much fun when I read the big books to them. Therefore, including an entire center for them to explore big book literature would really allow them to get multiple routes of text interaction.
Big books would also be excellent leads into writing stations. Using the literature to read to the classroom would encourage classroom conversation. And from there we would write about what we read together on the carpet.
