This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

By the end of kindergarten, my students are reading and writing simple sentences by themselves! It is a joy to watch my students become independent readers and writers each year. However, my students need a great deal of instruction, modeling, and practice in order to read and write.

These big books will be a great way for me to integrate reading into our phonics instruction as we learn about different word famliies.

I can use them to model good reading during our phonics lessons. The kids can also practice reading the books with my guidance. They can also be used as a center where students can practice reading together.
